5 Things You Should Know About Great Danes

16 Nov 2016

It’s time to stop looking through websites offering ineffective CCTV cameras and alarm systems, and instead get yourself looking for a well-trained protection dog. If you’re serious about keeping yourself protected and secure, then purchasing one of our canines really is the only way for you to go. A protection dog offers you a level of security that just can’t be matched, as they dedicate themselves to keeping you safe.

The only real issue that arises when it comes to purchasing a protection dog is choosing which canine is the right one for you. Not only do we provide animals with different personalities, we also offer the widest range of protection dog breeds in the country- meaning that you might just find yourself struggling with a little bit of indecision.

Fortunately, here at Protection Dogs were are dedicated to ensuring that our customers find the right dog for them, and so we’re here to give you some key information about our breeds. One such breed is the Great Dane- so sit back, relax and enjoy as we tell you all you need to know about this fantastic type of protection dog.

  • The first thing you should probably know about the Great Dane is that you are unlikely to ever find a larger dog. The Great Dane is one of the tallest dog breeds in the world, allowing them to intimidate any potential threats simply through the size of its body. A Great Dane will very rarely be called into action, because any attackers with half a brain cell will go running as soon as they catch sight of it!
  • Great Danes were once used to hunt wild boars, which demonstrates just how strong and powerful they are. They are an incredibly brave and quick breed that certainly have what it takes to keep you safe.
  • You shouldn’t be fooled by the size of the Great Dane. Although they’re sure to keep any potential threats at bay, Great Danes bring whole new meaning to the words “gentle giant.” You’ll find that a Great Dane will integrate itself as part of the family, and will get along perfectly with any children or other pets you might have.
  • The name “Great Dane” is actually incredibly misleading, as they have absolutely nothing to do with Denmark. In fact, the Great Dane originates from Germany, where it is called the German Mastiff. “Great Dane” comes from a French naturalist who discovered the dog whilst travelling in Denmark, where he immediately gave it the name we are now so familiar with.
  • If you needed any more reason to fall in love with the Great Dane, then consider this- your favourite cartoon dog could well be one. Marmaduke, Scooby-Doo and Astro from The Jetsons are all Danes- which should show you just how lovable these hounds can be!

Here at Protection Dogs Worldwide, we have a wide range of well-trained protection dogs for sale, so please don’t hesitate to contact our dedicated team for any further information regarding the canines that we have available.
